Webster's New World Dictionary defines Brainwash as, "to indoctrinate so intensively as to make change radically in mind." A definition of Brainwashing can also be found in the Encyclopedia Britannica online.
History has shown that people don't know they are being brainwashed. When confronted, they refuse to believe that it could ever happen to them. They will even defend those who have brainwashed them. That is exactly the approach being used by the radical Republican right to sway the American people to accept their outrageous policies. A great deal of credit must be given to those who have shaped Republican public relations. Their methods are highly effective. Just look at the brainwashing techniques that are being used.
Brainwashing experts are taking advantage of the strong bonds of family ties. Most people feel like their political party is family; and the party will do what is right to help and protect them. Brainwashing experts stick to their message -- repeating it over and over again, never varying -- telling you what you want to hear, then attempting to hide their real goals.
Regarding Mind Control just think about what the Bush administration is doing right now by diverting our attention to the alleged social security catastrophe. The public is overwhelmingly against messing with social security -- and Bush knows it. Personal savings accounts have failed miserably in other countries. However, by diverting public attention to the social security issue as long as he can, Bush and the radical right can ignore other important issues such as immigration, outsourcing of jobs, and many other real critical issues.
Barry Goldwater would have been outraged with what has happened to the republican party today. The radical republican right has been highly successful with their brainwashing techniques. They have taken complete control of the minds of most republicans and many democrats. Consider what is happening today. Most republican legislators won't even stand up for what they really believe in. They yield to the few who who have brainwashed the party.
What would Barry Goldwater think? For most of my earlier life I considered myself a Goldwater republican. However, I started pulling away from the party about the time of Richard Nixon and the Watergate issue. Most republicans continued to support Nixon even though they new the facts of the Watergate issue. It was obvious by that time that President Nixon had taken the republican party into areas of hiding things from the American public, lying, deceit, deniability, violations of our own constitution and laws, plus many other outrageous actions.
How about President Reagan? Then came President Reagan who was excellent in bringing down the Soviet Union. He indicated a high standard of morality and I supported him -- until I found out he too was using deniability, lying to the American public, running covert actions in different parts of the world and also violating our constitution and laws.
Now we have President George W. Bush whose republican party is run by the masters of brain washing. They have brainwashed the American people into believing the admninistration is moral and religious. At the same time they are hiding things from the American public, lying, deceiving, denying, and violating our own constitution and laws, with an unlimited support of corporate greed.
